Recommended Pilates equipment

Here is my list of recommended small Pilates equipment

In the beginner classes I will introduce the equipment one piece at a time.

The first two items you will need are the long resistance band and the soft Pilates ball.

Resistance Band:

Size: Minimum 1.75m long.

These from Sissel are 2m long and good quality, I recommend the green ‘strong’ ones:

See these resistance bands on the Sissel website

N.B. It may not be possible to do all of the exercises if you use a band which is shorter than 1.75m

Soft Pilates Ball, or ‘Over Ball’

Size 18cm ball from The Physical Company, Green or Purple.

See Pilates balls on the Physical Company website

Prickle Stimulating Ball

I recommend the Physical Company as they are quite soft.

Others may be too uncomfortable. All colours from here are the same.

See Prickle Stimulating Balls on the Physical Company website

Stability Roll (foam roller)

Size, 4" diameter x 35" long (white ones), or 38" long (blue ones).

The 6” diameter ones are also fine, although require more storage space!

I recommend the blue one from the Physical Company, they are more durable and hold their shape.

See the foam rollers on the Physical Company website

Or you might prefer a white foam stability roller

Hand Weights:

Any. 0.5kg or 1kg maximum

Two tins of beans or 500ml bottles of water do the same job!
